Holly Atkinson was born in Orillia, Ontario. She received her degree in Art Education from the University of Toronto and Sheridan College.

In 1979, Holly worked as a graphic artist for The City of Calgary. In 1982, she lived in Paris, France and continued her art education under the famed master painter MacAvoy at L’Atelier Lucernaire. In 1984, Holly returned to Toronto and worked as a mural artist. In 1985, Holly worked as a wax technician, mounter, mold maker and patineur at a bronze casting art foundry for many years.
It was here that her passion for sculpture was realized. Atkinson sculpts in metal, mixed media, paper, fabric and casts in hydrostone.

It is these experiences over the years that Holly has incorporated into her current art works.

She has received awards and commissions and currently lives in Guelph.

Holly has exhibited in Iceland, South Africa,  United States and in Canada at The Canadian Sculpture Centre and The McMichael Canadian Art Collection .
